This thread is my attempt to convince the readers to buy Persona 5 Royal. This game is going to be massively discounted this holiday season and I’m going to do my best to get y’all to consider buying this for themselves, a loved one, or to get someone to ask me for it Xmas (1/?)
WARNING:
Persona 5 (P5) and Persona 5 Royal (P5R) contain themes and depictions of suicide, child abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assault, pedophilia, police brutality, blackmail, depression, PTSD, murder, corruption, betrayal, bullying, it’s why it’s rated M.
(2/?)
(3/?)
P5R is a turn-based social simulator JRPG about a Japanese teenager arrested for a crime he didn’t commit, and is forced to attend a new school and live with a grumpy café owner while haunted by visions of a prison where the wardens tell him he needs to be rehabilitated...
(4/?)
He discovers he can enter the Metaverse, where the distorted desires of individuals manifest into physical locations, and when stealing the core of their desires, their treasure, the distorted individual has a change of heart. He gains the power to summon Personas..
(5/?)
In this entry, Personas represent the users’ Will of Rebellion. The Persona series takes the aspects of Shadows and Personas from Jungian Psychology and personifies them in the form of demons resembling mythological, religious, historical, and literary beings that you fight

(All art ITT is official)
P5R has 6 endings. The first 3 are from the original P5, the others have conditions to unlock. So if you want to experience both the True Ending and the new “return ending”, you have the option, the game includes New Game+ as well as 16 save files.
(7/?)
Persona 5 is a mix of Pokémon, inception, Codename: Kids Next Door, and superheroes and you and your team of masked Phantom Thieves use your elemental demons to combat the corrupted adults of society by fighting them in a mindscape. Each antagonist represents a Deadly Sin
(8/?)
The gameplay is third person dungeon crawling, turn based combat similar to Pokémon but you control 4 characters at once.
In overworld Japan, you have social stats you can raise through part-time jobs or activities, as well as being able to hang out with other characters
(9/?)
The Confidant System, formerly called Social Link System, allows you to befriend characters, and spending time with them gives you benefits in the Metaverse. Royal has 19 Confidants you can raise manually, and 4 that raise with the story. 3 of them unlock a new ending
(10/?)
It’s unfair to call Persona a dating sim as many have, but P5R has 10 women that the player can date, it doesn’t impact the story at all but if there’s a particular woman you really like then you can romance her.
Every Confidant has 10 Ranks with different benefits
(11/?)
The two styles of gameplay work cohesively to enhance the experience of being both a teenager and a vigilante and makes you appreciate the two styles of gaming, as well as get invested in the different Confidants and their stories. What you do in the real world affects—
(12/?)
What you do in the Metaverse, so the story is further reinforced by the gameplay. The game takes place over the course of the year of the hero’s probation and is on average 100 hours for the original ending and 130 for the additional third semester content. So why play it?
(13/?)
Pros:
- Interesting story
- lovable cast that feel so alive
- FIRE soundtrack w/ a variety of funk, jazz, metal, and orchestral tracks
- the length makes it easy to invest in, by the time it’s over, you’ll want more
- The two good endings add replay value
- cool designs...
(14/?)
for both the characters and the dungeons.
- immersive AF
- beautifully animated cutscenes
- good voice acting
- a variety of locations to explore with an interesting lore
- showcases Japanese culture as a necessity for story beats

basically it’s what Pokémon should be imo
Cons:
- length can be intimidating
- it can be very predictable, most of the “twists” can be seen from a mile away
- going back to the older Persona games will be harder because 5/5R are so mechanically superior
- the beginning is a drag, legit 10ish hour tutorial for dungeon 1

If you’ve taken the time to read all this, thank you. I hope I’ve convinced you to try out my favorite piece of media. And if you love it... Persona 5 DOES have a sequel on the way, it’s not localized in English yet but if 5/5R stole your heart, join me in being hyped for:
Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, eventually available for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch

Thank you so much for your time
#persona #persona5 #persona5royal #persona5scramble #joker #stealyourheart #takeyourheart
if you don’t have a PS4, the original Persona 5 is available on PS3 and is still worth playing despite the lack of the third semester, personally I think the original ending is better anyway.

If you lack both, maybe consider the manga, 4 volumes are in English atm, just be aware
that the name the protagonist has in the manga, Akira Kurusu, is not the name Atlus uses in their other Persona media, they call him Ren Amamiya.
