Before we look at the #gravestones for #Snave, here's the #Lidar. Not quite detailed enough to show the stones, but you can see the #church sits on a rectangular platform. Question, is this natural or artificial? As discussed recently @graffitiKent. #romneymarsh #fifthcontinent
The first #gravestone to highlight from #Snave is Mary, daughter of John Wright & Mary his wife, who departed this life on May 16th 1705. The carving on this stone is incredible and the words much clearer than on more recent memorials. Recorded by Brendan and Eve. @MarshChurches
The next #gravestone is memorial to John Wright and his son John Wright. John Wright snr is presumed father of Mary Wright in thread above. He died 14th April 1709, aged 49. John Wright jnr died 8th January 1763, aged 72. The writing remains legible, if challenging to decipher.
John & John Wright's #gravestone was recorded by #fifthcontinent #volunteers Brendan & Eve as part of work at #Snave. John snr's wife was also called Mary. John jnr married a Mary and had 2 children, Mary & Elizabeth. One of Elizabeth's 4 children was also a John! @MarshChurches
Our next #gravestone at #Snave. Thomas Brett & family. Records suggest a date of 1674, the earliest #grave we recorded
. The stone now forms part of threshold of west door, beneath the tower. Recorded by #fifthcontinent #volunteers Brendan & Eve. @MarshChurches @HeritageFundUK

A very belated final post in the #Snave #sentinel series. This @MarshChurches Church has a wonderful interior, with interesting features inc. #grafitti and #memorials. The #fifthcontinent @HeritageFundUK project will make the #graveyard transcriptions available later this year
