The worst legacy of the Trump presidency will be DC convincing itself that it doesn't behave in private the way Trump behaves in public.
It was always weird hearing criticisms of Trump from DC stalwarts, etc.

"He's transactional!" "He's narcissistic!" "He's vulgar and crude!" "He loves foreign leaders!" "He says untrue stuff!"

Yeah, none of that shit EVER happens in This Town.
Donald Trump is "transactional," according to Gen. John Kelly, who has apparently never met a member of Congress.

Yeah b/c the Mortimer F. Dunwinkle Center for the Arts totally got built on its own merits. Yep. Nothing transactional happened. Nope.
Nobody in DC has EVER traded something like, IDK, a vote on legislation affecting the lives of millions of people for something parochial, like ensuring the Army builds its next wonder bullet in Bumpkinburg.
