"In response to a[ @LawSocietyLSO] consultation on a model licensing framework for non-lawyers providing family law services, the Toronto Lawyers Association says there is no evidence this...will provide more affordable services and help alleviate the access-to-justice crisis."2/5
Of course there's a lack of evidence that a service by providers not yet authorized to deliver that service will increase family law access to justice. But we do have evidence of the need for more affordable #legal help and we know that the current approach isn't enough 3/5
And we do know that #paraprofessional service delivery models are effective in other areas/professions to meet a range of needs. Not everyone with a #legal problem needs the same level of service/expertise to address it. Adding paralegals to the mix provides more options... 4/5
for the person with a #familylaw problem to solve. These providers complement rather than compete with the services of family #lawyers as they can provide support where there is less need for the advanced skills the Toronto Lawyers Assoc'n says are always necessary. 5/5 #A2J
