I learned from @DanielDKraus that George A. Romero made his Night of the Living Dead ghouls slow shamblers to make a point: we SHOULD have been able to beat them back. As a society we just had to get our sh*t together.

Covid is a shambling zombie. It shouldn't be this hard.
Covid isn't Captain Trips from THE STAND. It isn't nearly as virulent as the pandemic in CONTAGION.

It isn't about Covid. It's about us and our leadership vacuum. It's about us and human denial.
Just like in a zombie movie, most people just can't wrap their minds around the idea that friends, loved ones and even only colleagues might be infected. They look the same to us. We don't want to believe it. It's "impolite" to take precautions.
The survival lessons in horror movies remain undefeated.
