I guess I’m theoretically in favor of canceling student debt (or some student debt, for instance mine) but I do have some questions. For one, would this be a one time thing and if you get it you get it or are we going to do this every year?
And when you say “cancel,” does that mean it just disappears and the lenders don’t get paid (great, fuck em), or does that mean “covered by taxpayers”? If it’s the latter, which taxpayers? Are we talking billionaires or podcasters?
Personally I think this whole thing could be solved going forward if we stop requiring degrees for most jobs but lol that’s not gonna happen
Also... don’t we have a bunch of small businesses failing due to no fault of their own? I might start with that instead of bailing out Smith grads but that’s just me.
