Arlene Foster has today given another example of her remarkable inattention to the sort of detail which she might be expected to know. In defending the DUP's use of its Executive veto to block covid restrictions, Mrs Foster criticised past use of the petition of concern veto.

Arlene Foster said: "Others have used the petition of concern...for reasons which we said it shouldn't have been used for such as welfare reform". There's one problem: The PoC was used 49 times on welfare reform; 47 of those were by the DUP - & Foster signed those petitions.
Due to the woolly nature of the Petition of Concern, there's lots of scope for parties to validly criticise or defend use of that veto, but this is essentially Foster criticising herself.
