Instant gratification can lead us to destructive outcomes.

It reminds me of Thanos.

In as quick as a snap of a finger it can make potential disappear.

Here are some ways to defeat instant gratification (Thanos) and help potential reappear.

The 10 10 10 Rule

When you have an impulse to do something your not suppose to reflect on the consequences in 10 minutes time, 10 months and 10 years.
Strengthen your will power

You can do this by exercising daily, eating the right foods and setting realistic goals.
Be aware of your impulses

Learn what triggers your urges.

Instead of immediately acting on an impulse when it arises, take a pause.

Create some space between your urge and your action.

Take a deep breath and slowly count to ten.
Implement the “If-then” method

For example you could set a rule that if your alarm goes off in the morning, then you’ll go for a run.

Eventually, you won’t need those rules for yourself anymore, as the behavior will be set on autopilot.
Let long term thinking over power instant gratification

If you let instant gratification win you”ll likely end up living a life of regret.

What you do on a daily basis may not seem to produce significant results, but you are in fact moving slowly to the future that you want.
