sometimes i get texts from my child with #ADHD because a teacher says something like, "i have no tolerance for [insert ADHD symptom here]. you have been warned."
and kid is like
teachers, i share this because it is unwitting ableism.

things kid has heard over the years:
⢠late work
⢠messy work
⢠not being organized
⢠talking out of turn
⢠forgetting things
⢠being late to online school

even if kid's IEP allows for these things, the teacher's blanket statement lets kid know that they are not actually pleased to accommodate.
throw back to when i had to add "no using liveschool" (a classdojo like app) for kid" to the IEP, because it basically gave me reports that looked like #ADHD symptom checklists.
these are the subtle ways kids with #ADHD get pushed out of school.
