1. Some thoughts on the @GOP and the rise of a “diverse, multi-ethnic working-class party”

Thanks to the American left’s unrelenting consolidation of cultural power, words like “diversity” and “inclusion” feel loaded, if not completely hollow.
2. To the modern left, “diversity” is the mobilization of archaic, albeit useful, categories for the sole purpose of furthering a leftist political agenda. This marshaling of power is clumsy, often farcical, and undermines the liberal principles upon which it supposedly rests...
3. It can be difficult for anyone, particularly minorities, to step away from this pathway to power and relevance. Acquiescing to the diversity agenda is rewarded with basic necessities, riches even, and valuable cultural capital. Prestige today depends on it...
4. But this convoluted dominance hierarchy demands a price, and that price is often too much to bear for some groups. As we’ve seen, middle- and working-class Americans of every stripe don’t often flourish in a “diverse” neoliberal order...
5. For many, giving up traditional faith, social mores, and individual identity for a mess of progressive pottage isn’t appealing. And as the left becomes more demanding and vicious, that appeal wanes even more...
6. As noted, this is an opportunity for the Republican Party. But unlike Marco Rubio, viewing this as a chance to “rebrand” is wrongheaded and will lead only to disaster. Rebranding implies that the GOP will play a game similar to that of the Democrats...
7. A game where groups are pandered to, patronized, and coddled by paternalistic Beltway elites. Aside from the fact that this approach isn’t what won certain demographics over to Trumpism, the Democrats simply play this silly game better. If the GOP pursues it, they will lose
8. The GOP would be wise to see the inherent value of real diversity and inclusion- something crucial to identifying and exploiting the weaknesses of our so-called meritocracy. The left enjoys political power thanks in part to a complex system of mandarins and apparatchiks...
9. This system thrives on a phony concept of “diversity” and “inclusion” that requires conformity, subservience, and frankly, lies. Marshaling Americans who reject this monstrous regime isn’t hard...
10. There’s a swelling dissatisfaction with the old order that cuts across all demographics; a frustration with strong cultural and economic elements that unite the working- & middle-class. Playing the left’s diversity game and repurposing their bromides will fail to tap into it
11. If the GOP fails to comprehend this, they will alienate their old base, lose support among new entrants into Trump’s movement, and likely go the way of the Federalists and Whigs.

Time to belly up to the bar, boys.
