This thread of mine earlier was probably not my finest work. Judges talking to lawyers about the processes and conduct of constituent parts of a legal process is not my strong point. But I think the last point made by Mittings should be looked at in more detail #spycopsinquiry https://twitter.com/tombfowler/status/1328664881042698240
Sir John Mitting said he was not happy about the fact that 'Rosa' had asked for the live stream of proceedings to be provided for her to watch at home (as everyone else did), and he agreed due to the unique case of her personal experience and current family situation.
She asked that the details of that not be released in his ruling over live streaming as it was personal distressing information. He does not dispute the truthfulness of the details, but he is unhappy that she then used the same information in her opening statement.
I think it is very straightforward to understand why this is. 'Rosa' did not want to release this information at all, but given the significance of the @ucpinquiry, she knew that it was important that it was included in her opening statement.
This is completely in line with her desire for that same information not being released earlier by the Judge in a ruling over process. Aside from any minor concern about 'stealing thunder', it is totally understandable that she did not want that information made public that way.
When dealing with the huge trauma that comes from having your live targeted in #spycops, it is hugely important for victims to have some semblance of control over the narrative of their own lives. For the judge to fail to recognise this is disgusting.
It should not need to be pointed out at all. 'Rosa' has suffered some of the worst abuses that #spycops committed. For her to be attacked and insulted in this way by Sir John Mitting is unforgivable.
Some of the ways in which Sir John Mitting has acted as chair of this inquiry has called into question his suitableness for the role. with this particular point he calls into question his very humanity. Solidarity with Rosa, shame on Mitting.
