these PCR tests are NOT suited to purpose
they are a preposterously over sensitive assay. w/ a sensitive enough detector, i can find traces of bacon in your kitchen from breakfast 2 yrs ago

this is why NONE of the vaccine trials accept this definition of "covid case." all require symptomatic conformation as well.

a virus is just a particle. it spreads everywhere. even people who are immune will have some in their system; it just will not be enough to matter clinically. it may well be torn to shreds by the immune system.

this same fact amplifies hospitalization numbers, deaths, and every other metric.
the data here has become gibberish because the testing we're using is ridiculous. it's not suited to the task at hand.

if you cannot discern clinical cases from trace contamination and 90% + of "cases" are "asymptomatic." mostly because they are not real cases at all, your data is so hopelessly tainted that you're never going to extract signal from noise even after you back out sample rate etc
this makes it a ridiculous basis for policy.
