I was the first person in my group to graduate from college at 25.
We are still close. 1/2 make below the federal poverty line and/or live in the projects.

To the extent they know what they are, it’s because they once tried going to college and got caught up in the predatory private loan system or took out more than I did to graduate.
In all cases, they would all be thrilled for forgiveness. Even if I was the only one to benefit.

Why?
Because people like us *never* get substantial assistance from the government.
The fact that someone like me, who used to sleep on their floors and trade out sweat pants so we could look like we had an extra outfit could get a check from the government would like Xmas.

Maybe this guy means *white* people would be resentful, but here’s the thing:
Those people resent my education anyway.
The major backlash to higher education has always been about gate keeping and the fact that people like me have used it to bust in the doors.

There may very well be resentment from folks who viewed student debt as a “make-weight” but he’s lying about where it’s going to come from.
It will be the elite class that now can’t hold student debt over poor people who make the most of the system.

This is why the conversation almost always goes towards “making the school pay the money back”
To them something or someone has to be held to account for all the poors challenging them for their jobs unfettered from the financial burden.
