I'm pro masks.

I wear masks in most contexts.

Can we all stop the charade that pretends that everyone is going to wear masks all the way through a multi-hour family gathering?

That is ridiculous. It is mask puritanism.
I'm sorry, if you say "Oh I wear a mask all the time in every context", I don't believe you.

I know a mom who was so careful with social distancing and isolation this spring that her car battery died from lack of use.

She doesn't wear a mask when visiting the grandparents.
The point of mask puritanism is not to get people to wear masks.

It is to give people the wiggle room to blame people for catching COVID.

"Did you ever take your mask off at any point? Ah... well that's why you got COVID. If you had lived a mask-perfect life you would be pure"
Masks are a mitigation. One of many. The rhetoric around masks has gotten ridiculous.

And stop telling me I'm imagining it, I just watched Joe Biden spend half of his Thanksgiving recommendations talking about how everyone should wear masks all the time.
