Now into the 8th month of Zoom-Teams-Webex-itis, and we're all better than we were. But while you can schedule a digital meeting with one click, holding a really good, engaging event isn't quite so easy. What are 5 easy tips we've learnt at @kscopehealth?
1. PLAN PLAN PLAN. At @kscopehealth our internal agendas spell out minute by minute what's happening when and who's doing what. As a minimum, jot something down & have a run-through the day before to check everyone knows what's what.
2. SINGLE SET OF SLIDES. We've all been there: thumb twiddling as a presenter fumbles with switching between slide sets. Have one set, one person controlling, & a separate laptop & login just to host them so it doesn't clog up your screen. Oh, and share the file at the start too.
3. CHAT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. Of all the whizzy tools out there, the one we use most is the humble chat. Ask well designed, short questions, often, & have time to pick out themes. Immensely democratic: you can hear from your whole audience in seconds, try doing that face-to-face!
4. FINK ABOUT FACILITATION. Sorry facilitators, but most of what goes wrong in digital events is your fault. Facilitators have immense power - setting expectations of how to get involved, giving out instructions & more. Use it wisely. Handy tips 👇
5. STEAL FROM OTHERS. This is a great time to be learning digital-ese. If you see someone else doing something you like, use it in your events. For a start, here's the first 4 slides we use (adapted) for every event. If you like them, use them!

End of tips for today, hope helpful? At @kscopehealth we use digital events to power all of our work, from engagement to learning, improvement to networks, research to OD. If we can help you take your engagement up a notch, get in touch.
