Did they intentionally make it look like this screen?
in any case, now I need to mod one of my win95 machines to show that when shutdown
this screen, btw, comes from Outer Wilds.
There's a sort of "joke" ending you can get by playing with a time travel experiment where you violate causality with it and accidentally break time.
anyway fortunately I have a win95 machine right here.
unfortunately it's a laptop, which means it has power management, so you never see that screen, as it just powers off.
BUT WHAT IF
Nope. Still just powers off.
it's too late in the evening to start building an AT-motherboard win95 machine.
WAIT
I forgot I had another Pentium within reach of my desk.
You ever forget about entire computers from 30 years ago? I do, sometimes.
oh yeah that's good shutdown.
here's the raw picture.
it's 320x400, which is fun because they're displayed at 4:3
and... done!
wait.
wow, win95 has a fallback text version for when you completely fuck up the logos.sys file
I thought maybe I was missing some info so I thought I'd google it and it gave me the wikipedia (which I already had open) and OH GOD DAMN IT
it's got some weird alignment issues but hey, it works.
