Last night I took it upon myself to explain to attendees of my first White Traitor show what exactly Pete Evans' Black Sun, or sonnenrad, is. I thought I'd put it out there now in as layman's terms as possible (not very). Here goes. 1/

After WW2, Nazism/fascism took a bit of a mystic turn. One reason: it couldn't remain an overt political ideology anymore at that time. (You might have heard that political fascism was a little bit unpopular after WW2 ended.) 2/

Another: its loyal adherents needed to keep the faith in the face of resounding rejection. While that necessitated a turn towards secrecy for all, for some it meant a departure into a newly developing sense of spirituality. 3/

There were some pre- and mid-WW2 esoteric fascist forays. But I don't think they mattered so much up to and incl. WW2, because that time demonstrated that the real face of fascism, once it shows its hand, is bared-teeth political megalomania. Murderous and bloody, not spooky.4/

There's two things with this 'Black Sun' nonsense. There's the concept and the symbol. They united eventually.

After WW2, a guy called Wilhelm Landig was one of many who picked up the aforementioned threads of old esoteric fascist thought to feel them out. 5/

He was a veteran soldier who'd served in the SS in WW2. After his release from POW camp, he took up the ideas of Julius Evola, source of inspiration to mystic fascists everywhere. He formed a circle of thinkers and who were all into 'esotericising' fascism after WW2. 6/

The Black Sun was posited by some of Landig's circle as representing a sinking into the occult mysteries; a hidden voyage of self-reflection or personal discovery. Some in the circle suggested it represented the Holy Grail, or Nazi UFOs (pls see my show for more info). 7/

Others suggested it represented a secret Nazi German project to build hidden bases in the Arctic (represented by the 'Golden Sun') and the Antarctic (represented by the 'Black Sun') - more conspiracies that flourish to this day but had their beginnings in occult fascism. 8/

Others still said it represents a dead star that shone over the Aryan master race, hundreds of thousands of years ago.

Here you go. These guys. This is my white Aryan master race grand dad. An ice giant. (Long story.) 9/

The concepts embedded in the Black Sun, while amorphous, are broadly those of a 'winter solstice' for the white race, a period of night time or darkness or invisibility preceding a later period of greatness. A sunrise. 10/

I think it characterises the defeat, the disappearance and the secrecy of post-WW2 fascism. Think of the concept as a gesture of patience and defiance for Nazism, hidden away from view, biding its time. 11/

Landig wrote a series of Nazi fantasy novels. The novels were informed by the occult ideas generated among his circle. So the Black Sun as a concept became popular among neo-Nazis in the 1990s from these novels. 12/

Now, Chef Pete's SYMBOL originally had a military Nazi German application. Himmler popped it on a castle. Some German aircraft bore the insignia throughout WW2. That was called the Wewelsberg SS symbol.

A guy called Russell McCloud wrote another Nazi fiction, in 1991. 13/

His thriller novel connected the Landig ideas of the Black Sun to the Wewelsberg SS symbol. As all of the above books became popular among neo-Nazis in the 90's in their search to mythologise their ancestry with fiction and such, they embraced the symbol and attached concept. 14/

(Fantasy novels. Thriller novels. Sensing a trend? Books, films and other forms of entertainment were in the development of post-WW2 occult fascism. My show talks about much of this!) 15/

So basically the Black Sun can mean different stuff but usually boils down to a sneaky gesture of 'We'll rise to greatness again, one day!', in the hands of current Nazis. If you have any familiarity with fascists, that won't surprise you much. 16/

All they ever do is tell you how powerful they're going to be In A While, Just You Wait. Sneaky transparent Black Suns make them feel like they're hiding something in plain open. Very clever.

I've just described a symbol passed among multiple generations of Nazis and neo-Nazis. It has significance only to neo-Nazis. It's as Nazi as an inverted swastika. Pete was posting fascist stuff. It IS straightforward, but just takes a bit of time to understand. 18/

Note that mainstream media are never going to be capable of condensing all of the above - itself far too condensed and simplified - into snappy coverage of Pete's Nazi-posting. So it won't happen. They're destined to fuck the coverage up. 19/
