Let’s start a thread w/ideas for #Thanksgiving2020. Combining thoughts might be helpful.

For us, we aren’t cancelling #Thanksgiving, we are adapting responsibly to the current environment. We’d be doing this anyway, but I’m high risk & 2 loved ones recently tested positive. /1 https://twitter.com/bethoppenheimer/status/1328159043018395648
First, it’s ok (& perhaps necessary) to acknowledge a few things. Yes, it sucks & will look & feel different. No, it’s not ideal. Yes, we’d rather spend it with family/friends. That said, we can still be thankful while having #Thanksgiving safely, for the greater good. /2
Here are some ideas we might try or that I’ve heard about for #Thanksgiving2020:

-standard Zoom/Google hangout before & during dinner (could cast it to the TV so kids can see everyone on a bigger screen)

-breakout mtgs for the kids so they can “see” each other & chat/“play” /3
#Thanksgiving2020 ideas, continued:

-Art/crafts: Each house/family is going to do a turkey version of a gingerbread house, so the kids can do that together/at the same time. You could do thankful lists, drawings, paintings, or something similar. /3 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.purewow.com/family/thanksgiving-crafts-for-kids%3famphtml=true
More #Thanksgiving ideas:

-for some, watching movies or shows is a tradition. There’s a new (to me) way to do this together virtually called #Teleparty (looks it requires a desk/laptop). Here’s some info for those adventurous enough to try it out!

One more #Thanksgiving2020 idea:

-We normally play some games together. Perhaps you could try it virtually? This link has many downloads (if you don’t mind an app fee), including some classics like Monopoly, Clue, & our family favorite, Ticket to Ride. /5 https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/twelve-board-games-you-can-play-friends-afar-180974686/
What ideas do you have to help make the best of this challenging time? I hope we can make things a little more exciting & happy for those looking for ideas. I’m especially hopeful that this will make things more enjoyable for our kiddos. #HappyThanksgiving #Thanksgiving2020
