do you ever think about how in "A Muppet Christmas Carol" Michael Caine as Scrooge is yelling about how much poor people suck and he's like "if they're going to die, they'd better do it, and decrease the surplus population," and that's basically the GOP's entire COVID policy now
(no one come at me with whether or not that line is actually from Dickens, the Muppet version is the only one I care about)
anyway it's just interesting that one of literature's most famous assholes says things that are so over-the-top terrible they're played for dark comedy which now sound so creepily to actual soundbites from elected Republicans

and then instead of being magically absolved overnight he's like "I will be making up for my past dickishness for the rest of my life!" and everyone around him is like "correct! that is, in fact, what you owe society!"
it's so wild that the bar could literally be "just don't be ACTUAL EBENEZER SCROOGE" and the GOP still can't clear it
