NEW w/ @RMac18: Internal Facebook data shows that labels placed on Trump's false election posts only reduce their spread by 8%, making no real difference.
Meanwhile, three false Trump claims are the most-engaged posts on Facebook over the last 24 hours: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/facebook-labels-trump-lies-do-not-stop-spread

The 8% decrease due to an election label is significantly worse than a similar effort by Facebook to add context to false content. In 2017, I reported that FB's fact-check labels reduced spread by roughly 80%. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/facebook-just-shared-the-first-data-about-how-effective-its
Important context to the diff between election labels and fact-check labels: FB downranks false content labeled by fact-checkers. It does not automatically downrank false election content. So Trump's posts continue to spread, and in many cases become the most-engaged posts on FB.
