The Sun has a huge audience of readers who will need to hear Marcus Rashford’s message. I can appreciate that. The issue is however, that it’s naive to assume that’s a good enough reason to run the story.
Football as a sport should be working fucking hard to banish that paper away from it entirely. It’s no good to anyone. It’s racist, it spreads hate and misery.
How can you beef with the Daily Mail one day and then sit down and chat to the Sun the next? Do you really think the Sun care about feeding school kids? They’re a Tory, Brexit paper who purge on manipulating people in poverty. They’re not Marcus Rashford’s friends or ours.
Still, it’s important to look at this rationally. Rashford is still doing and has gone great work. It’s a horrendous misstep and must be looked at that way. But he doesn’t deserve everyone’s support swiped from under his feet.
