Extreme low tide at 4:20 today man
About the tide at the pier: With an extended view. One morning, a few weeks ago, a huge school of yellowfin croaker showed up in the circle. I was surfing and I finally asked a man on the pier what everyone was looking at. He said “There’s a storm of fish under you.”
I looked and couldn’t see it and then I did and it scared me. It was incredible. A month ago, a man caught a 31 inch halibut there too, from the pier. That sandy area. The water gets sucked hundreds of feet away along with all that life — except for the tide pools.
At high tide, sometimes surfers can catch the wave that comes off the southern and eastern wall. The wall! It’s barely in the frame of the photo with the water at low tide.
The wild edge of our city changes drastically every few hours.
And the sea returns ... 9:47 a.m. was the high tide (not the highest over the last few days but close). The brilliant @AshleyJPL made it a gif. Enjoy.
