B.C. is going to be receiving #COVID19 numbers for three days at 3pm local time.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind when they come in, and how to interpret them.
The numbers for B.C. are going to seem huge.

That's partly because they will be over three days, and partly because we're in a period where new cases have been doubling every two weeks.

There were no signs of that slowing down before Friday, so expect high numbers.
It mean's you'll see a bunch of #BREAKING tweets that will seem bad, whether it's 1,500 new cases or 2,500 new cases or even higher.

What's a reasonable baseline though?

Given the trendlines, probably around 2200-2300.
What will be worth seeing is whether the 7-day positivity rate has stopped going up, particularly in Fraser Health, where it's now close to 10%.

There might be hints of that plateauing — but we probably won't have that full picture until closer to 5pm or so.
It will not be until later this week that we will start to see if there has been a positive impact from the restrictions announced by the government last Saturday.

That will likely guide the government's thought process on whether further restrictions are needed.
And of course, we should expect more hospitalizations, and more deaths, given current demographics of new cases.

None of this is happy news, but hopefully it gives people a sense of what today will be like, and to keep in mind what changes we may or may not hear about.
