In a news release Monday morning, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced California would be taking immediate action following a spike in Coronavirus cases and deaths.

94.1% of the state’s population is currently in the purple, or “widespread” tier - stricter guidelines and more public health regulations.

This brings a closure to indoor dining, gyms, & other non-essential businesses. These operations must now shut down within 24 hours.

In his announcement, the governor stated this is the “fastest increase California has seen.”

The tier status will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
