D: How many farming project thingies are you involved in?
Me: 5 at various scales currently. Got another 5 proposals that I'm looking at and will probably add another 2 in February.

You can be an investor, you can be a partner, you can be an agent. There are so many roles to play in the agricultural sector if you are looking at the long term. Find what works for you & get involved. Find people you vibe with because there'll be many UNCOMFORTABLE convos.
I enjoy the process from end to end. From ideation to the product in the store to value addition and experimentation. Any my investments are designed to cover the whole spectrum of things I enjoy.
There's stuff I'm doing with friends, stuff I'm doing with family, stuff I'm doing with strangers, & soon stuff I'll be doing by myself! I'm excited and scared at the prospect. In April 2021 I'll be involved in 8 different oeprations and 1 is ALL MINE.
My favourite venture is one I've never visited. My friend got stuck out in the bundus & this guy and his family helped them out and gave them accommodation overnight. They got to talking about what he was doing & his vision, & the gap between that and available funds.
My friend told me of it when he got back. I was so moved I wanted to do something. Initially I was going to do a random act of kindness & keep it moving. They called when my friend went back to them with the specific thing they had said they'd be thrilled to have that I'd bought.
The guy was like I can't accept this as just a gift, it's too much. You are a partner in my venture. What we put in the ground & see to maturity thanksnto your blessing, one fifth is yours. I thougt it was a joke till they asked for my account details a couple of months later.
We've been working like that since. He sends me his schedule & asks me how much I'm in for of the total to be put under production & I get my cut. 18 months in, we talk on the phone, but we haven't met. I'll be visiting them for the first time in December. Vibes don't lie.
P.S. my friend has been there a number of times. Turns out they are related by marriage. Which makes us related by marriage too as my friend's wife is my relative. But we'll tell them that when we meet them.
Anyway, back to the point of the story. Your heart has to be in it, in spite of what the projections & forecasts say. You won't enjoy it, & you definitely won't have the stomach for it when life is coming at you fast if your heart's not in it. The land is a most fickle mistress.
Some projects you really want to support but the numbers don't add up. No amount of heart or belief can fix that, and it SUCKS. Like you are really buying into the concept, then you get to the numbers and it's not adding up so you have to let it go.
Vibe could be dope and heart could be in it but if the numbers don't make sense it has to be a no. If it's not a productive utilisation of money then it's a definite waste of time, and time is something I have little of so there's none to waste.
