think most people are underestimating the extent to which we're not coming back from the present "conflicting narrative" situation. u have "the top official" people on both sides putting all their chips on being 100% sure about things they cant back down from. its not like before
of course theres always been conflicting views but i really dont think its been like this before. im kind of (to a pathological extent) obsessed with tracking the zeitgeist and even im surprised at the extent to which, like i said, "the top" of both sides have gone all in, 100%.
its not even speculative like what "could" have happened. the top officiators on one side are saying, look at the box, its black, the top officiators on the other side are saying "look at the box, its white". not fringe weirdos, people with "real" titles + jobs. even im surprised
obviously im tinfoil hat guy but at least usually its not that explicit. people make vague statements, allude to things, dodge questions, now, (again) the top of both sides are all in 100%. i see [no] way that normal people without a high level of metacognition can navigate this.
no matter what happens the fracture isnt going to heal because no ones going to be able to back down from putting their chips in 100%. ive read really surprisingly confident statements from a lot of people. honestly, i would think im jaded about the spectacle but its pretty crazy
