I see many younger pastors whose mentors are mostly spiritual "influencers" who are (often) neither grounded in nor accountable to an actual community of faith. This is problematic. I suppose spiritual influencers might have a place, but pastors need more fitting mentors.
I've seen many pastors (often younger) take on the condescending, contemptuous tone of their spiritual influencer pseudo-mentors, be reprimanded for it by their community, & then claim persecution when they've, in fact, been rightly disciplined.
Are pastors sometimes persecuted by stubborn and sinful ppl in their communities? Absolutely. Are pastors sometimes disciplined in love by the community that loves them enough to chasten them for sincere but misguided scoldish-ness that borders on contempt? Yes.
