When my son was in sixth grade he ran for student council president. The Assistant Principal gathered all the candidates in her office to read the results.
My son lost the election by one vote. One. She told me that without missing a beat, he stood up and shook the hand of the kid who won, and told him congratulations.
I was so proud of him. I knew that he was disappointed. It was hard, but it was the right thing to do.

When you see someone acting with dignity and courage and compassion, you see their strength. You see their character.
This is just embarrassing. It's hard to watch.
