#CLST6 #RR21 I think relevance can be found anywhere. One of my favorite parts of this class has been the emphasis on spending more than 30 seconds to evaluate an artifact, especially in the #lookcloser assignments. /1
Sometimes it takes time for nuances to an artifact or situation to come into view – usually more than 30 seconds. Also, taking more time to observe something allows us to make connections and contextualize what we look at. /2
As Prof. Dibble has said, archaeological context matters – whether it’s a few centimeters at a dig site or evaluating the artwork in ancient Ertruscan tombs (1). /3
Taking the time to contextualize and make these connections is important for both the accuracy of research and painting an informed picture of historical events. /4
