"Knowledge of the brain makes people more productive in all aspects of their lives." Teach me more!!
Brain is only 2-3 pounds but consumes 20% of the body’s total energy. This makes me rethink my bad habit of skipping lunch. How has this been affecting my functioning during this COVID response?
The brain is very sensitive to negativity, such as rejection, criticism, and uncertainty. In order to improve collaboration and decision-making we need to address the threat response that is triggered by these threats. So what can we do? #PutOnYourSCARF
Some ways to support Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Fairness:
- Provide positive feedback publicly
- Clearly state SMART objectives
- Remember the need to also provide a degree of certainty for the public
- Set boundaries but introduce choice wherever possible

- Pay attention to how we introduce new team members. Make time to get to know one another.
- Ask questions to get to know people and LISTEN to answers
- Work with team to set ground rules for teamwork. Take time to create shared expectations.
And last takeaway - a book recommendation (!!!) on neuro-leadership: David Rock’s Your Brain at Work.

Nice presentation!
