In terms of simply doing good shoe-leather reporting, talking to members of Congress and local politicians, @J_Insider is just blowing many non-specialist media outlets out of the water. Really good stuff that helps you understand our country beyond the national headlines.
I think Cawthorn has a bunch of problematic views, but his observation that Jews are hard to proselytize to because we don't believe in Jesus is super accurate! Rejection of Jesus is one of the few redline beliefs of most American Jews: https://www.pewforum.org/2013/10/01/jewish-american-beliefs-attitudes-culture-survey/
Twice as many Jews think you can be Jewish and *not believe in God* than think you can be Jewish and believe Jesus was the messiah. It's not anti-Semitic to say this out loud! It just means you've talked to some Jews and noticed what most of us believe. https://twitter.com/Yair_Rosenberg/status/1328417428682977295
1) Judaism isn't a religion in the Christian sense. It's a nation/culture/family, not just a theology. Many Jews experience their Jewishness as something other than a purely religious identity.
2) Jews were murdered for centuries for denying Jesus, so it's something of a red line https://twitter.com/theshaikhu/status/1328418412717019142
I did not expect this to be "explain why Jews don't believe in Jesus" day on Twitter, but I live to serve.
If you think you have the right path to salvation--whether you are Muslim, Jewish or Christian--of course you'd want to tell people about it. The problem only arises if you advocate persecuting people who don't accept your teaching, which does not seem to be the case here. https://twitter.com/danielmarans/status/1328420697673183240
In other news, big day for rabbi's kids in political journalism today!
Of course, one of the distinguishing characteristics of Judaism is that it is *not* historically a proselytizing faith and does not think people have to be Jewish to be moral/saved.
