@Trade_EU under guidance of @DRedonnet @VaZoMax launches a new complaints mechanism where complaints can be lodged concerning alleged breaches of EU trade and investment agreements.

Complaints concerning market access and trade and sustainable development #TSD will be treated equally. The mechanism will allow @Trade_EU to systematically analyse complaints, devote the necessary resources and escalate, as necessary, ultimately to dispute settlement 2/7
The complaints mechanism will be fed by complaints lodged by stakeholders, but also by @Trade_EU, the EU's Delegations in 3rd countries all in partnership with EU Member States. To lodge a complaint

Of note, a prioritisation of future #TSD disputes based on 1) legal strength 2) importance of the commitments and 3) systemic impact which aligns with the existing prioritisation for market access based on 1) legal strength, 2) economic importance and 3) systemic impact 5/7
Also of note a commitment to the Commission self-initiating investigations (modelled on the Trade Barriers Regulation) where information is lacking so as to have a basis for effective enforcement and dispute settlement.
