Gonna start a thread and I'd love everyone's help. The goal: round up all the resorts still using the original resort logo or mark. Some didn't open with a logo, so their first logo works. Know of any? Reply with an image below. I'll start us off...
Part of the challenge is being sure of any of these, so correct me if I get any wrong. But I'll start with @Vail. Pretty sure every logo I saw in coverage of their opening day is the same they use today though word mark has changed to all caps and new font.
Next is @StoweMtResort. Never seen any logos older than once that is (pretty close) to what they use today. A little cleanup, but not much.
I think my notifications just said @ozskier beat me to this one, but @Snowbird is another I know of. Even though the Bird is "younger", may, that logo go last for another hundred years as far as I'm concerned.
The oldest logo I can find of @jaypeakresort is the same one they're using today, so feel free to correct me if there's one I'm not aware of @stevejpr.
Next is @AltaSkiArea. I have seen very little older stuff from Alta with a logo on it, but I've never seen anything but their current logo which is one of my all time favorites.
One from @ozskier: @Deer_Valley. Deer Valley isn't the original name of the resort (was Snow Park), but the deer head is the first logo I know of so let's count it unless someone has other info?
This one is from @banffchris - @SunPeaksResort. Didn't realize the resort was so new (1993), but there are resorts of similar age who have rebranded so definitely counts.
Never found anything older than the 70s or 80s for @BrightonResort so @Winklerflip can jump in if I'm mistaken, but I believe the current mark is the original.
Another from @ozskier: @KeystoneMtn.
I wasn't sure if @LovelandSkiArea started with something besides their skier drawing, but this map @ozskier found seems to suggest it's original. @DustinSchaefer, you know any different?
Whoops, forgot to reshare another @ozskier found: @SolitudeMTN. Similar to him, I can't find anything older than the bird. Colors have changed, but mark is almost identical to the stuff I can find.
Style of the loon has changed, but the shape appears not to from @loonmtn.
Name change along the way, but it would appear that @Northstar_CA still uses roughly the same pinwheel mark as they originally did.
Nice find from @AdamStBear: looks like @waterville is still using their original as well!
Granted, I'm twice as old as @Ski_Tamarack, but they do use their original logo. I swear I heard a rebrand was in the works, but for now...it counts.
Good find from @skiingrogge - Ski Hickory still uses their original.
Sounds like @PicoMountain is returning to their logo roots. Another one that's not a "still using" but will be using their original from here on out.
Thanks to @TimForgot, looks like @timberlinelodge should be on this list as well.
Another one from @TimForgot: also looks like @HoodMeadows hasn't changed theirs.
Might need @dctosch to jump in and confirm (and add any others he knows of), but looks like @Boyne_Mountain is using something pretty dang close to their original.
One more before I grab some lunch and jump on the @saminfo huddle. This one I should have remembered earlier, but a classic nonetheless: @BromleyMountain. A slight change over the years, but mostly the same.
Another original still in use thanks to @dctosch: @NubsNobSkiArea.
And one more from @dctosch: @MtHollySki.
Great find by @FotoByFreas: Sugar Mountain, NC.
Another great one from @FotoByFreas: @App_Ski_Mtn.
Apparent wasn't called Blue at one point, but since it's been @BlueMtnResort, this has been the logo. Thanks, @j_petznick!
Seems likely that @skisteamboat is also using their original. Thanks @ozskier and @IngleWitch for the finds!
Looks like @resortalyeska has also gone back to their original. Thanks for the tip @sandiaskis and @TimForgot!
And looks like @skisunlight is also using something pretty dang close to their original.
Looks like @WintergreenVA might be another according to @mikegranetz. Good find!
You can follow @slopefillers.
