Sexual exploitation is a serious global concern. We welcome the #CEDAW General Recommendation 38, on “Trafficking in Women and Girls in the Context of Global Migration,” confirming that women and girls continue to be major victims of trafficking across the world.
It's great to see that the UN CEDAW Committee strongly calls for an #EndDemand approach to prostitution and sex trafficking, and recognises that tackling root causes of trafficking is the best way to prevent it in all its forms, to target prevention and victim assistance!
The Committee also calls on governments to pursue all appropriate means to eliminate trafficking, highlighting the increasing use of social media to recruit victims during the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the full recommendations here: http://bit.ly/38MuL6A
