age group. 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u and so on and so forth. When many of us were kids we had 8-12 usually split up into a minors, which were usually 8s, 9s and some 10s, and then majors which were some 10s and most 11s and 12s. Then you went to 13-15 and then 16-18. Throughout.....
your entire career you had to start out earning your stripes and proving yourself and then you became the big dog and if you were any good, the straw that stirs the drink. Then you got knocked back down and started the process all over again. Now kids get to high school.....
and its their first time experiencing this process and so many of them can’t handle it. And often their parents can’t handle it either. They’re so used to playing with no one but kids their own age and never having to go through the sports socialization that occurs from.....
this process. Even if you “play up” and play all the competition in the world you can’t mimic what happens mentally from the aforementioned process.
