With the recent positive developments in the vaccine trials, I hope our leaders are looking ahead for the possible logistical issues that our country may face in distributing the vaccine.
Our leaders, in recent events, has failed to exercise proper planning. I hope, that even before the vaccine is available, they are already looking into the following:
1. Do we already have the facilities, the cold storage warehouses, ready when the vaccine is available? The vaccine needs to be stored and transported in cold temperature.
2. How will it be distributed nationwide?Considering the challenges we face as an archipelago?
Although not related to logistics, the following are also pressing questions:
1. After our healthworkers & frontliners, who will be prioritized?if the supply is limited, how can we be assured that there will be fair access to the vaccine for all, and not only the rich and powerful
2. Who will pay for the vaccine? Will there be some sort of subsidy from the government given that some loans procured by the administration are allegedly for the purchase of vaccines?
These are just some of the issues from the top of my head but I am sure there are still more hiccups that will need to be resolved. But if our government plans ahead, we can reduce these hiccups and be more prepared as compared to the time when this whole thing started.
It is understandable that the entire world was caught by surprise when the virus struck. But now that we have the cure, it will be grossly negligent of us if we are still unprepared to finally put a stop to this nightmare that we were forced to live in this 2020.
