why seokjin’s round cheeks are very vital to society: a thread
1: ethologist Konrad Lorenz in 1949 stated that round cheeks are one of the things people find cute. and according to molly bloom in 2016, our brains make us enjoy looking at cute things by rewarding us with dopamine, a chemical that makes us feel intensely happy.
1.2: round cheeks being cute may also be the cause of something called ‘dimorphous expression’, in which one sees something they think is cute and the initial reaction is to act very aggressive and/or sad. in which this is the case for many of us when we see seokjin eat or smile
2: lorenz in 1943 suggests that neotenic (baby like features like round eyes and face) raise our instinct to care for the subject, & also motivates us to care for it a lot, and this is why everyone care seokjinnie and his cheeks, not because we want to, but because we all need to
lastly: when things are cute they also do not seem threatening at all. he’s not just vital to society but he’s gonna rule it too. you ever notice how you never feel scared when he looks angy?? he will get away with anything bc what’s he gonna do?? monch monch in front of you?????
in conclusion: seokjin gives us massive amounts of dopamine and feeds the natural caring instinct in us which helps us function altogether as a society. this is why we must keep his cheeks full. to retain the balance in this society because he in turn does the same for us.
