Thread: I refuse to accept arguments like "If fast food workers make a living wage, how will college grads feel?" or "If student loan debt is forgiven, how will people with paid debts feel?" as though the fortunate are entitled to observe a basic amount of suffering beneath them.
Policy is complex and we can all disagree reasonably about means and ways, what best practices are, and how we can prioritize scarce resources. But anyone whose sense of peace and fairness is dependent on watching others struggle doesn't deserve a seat at the table.
It's the economic equivalent of a frat boy who tortures the incoming freshmen class because he was hazed himself when he was a freshmen. Your ire is directed in the wrong direction.
