There's been some discussion about the need to revisit the UK's MRVP programme. It is clear to me that JLTV plus Eagle or Bushmaster would be more than adequate for the role as currently envisaged, but...
My friend @thinkdefence has previously posed the question of whether a home-grown family of vehicles should be considered to fulfil Package 1 and Package 2 requirements. Protecting UK jobs from the impact of Covid makes it important to re-think this idea.
We have spent considerable time and effort developing Foxhound. Despite teething issues, it has evolved into a great platform. It has undoubtedly saved lives.
@gduknews developed a comprehensive family of Foxhounds including a 6x6 trooping carrier, Command & Liaison, Logistics and Recce variants. Like Boxer, Foxhound is highly modular, so switching between variants is a piece of cake.
Modularity is the future. It makes armoured vehicles affordable and sustainable. It also means battle damage can be repaired with less effort.
Then there's Supacat with its excellent HMT platform. This is already in service in both 4x4 and 6x6 flavours. It is also extremely modular.
