Here’s another thing I want to say about the FemFreq situation. The general thing I hear people say when I point out the very unsophisticated takes the original videos/Kickstarter took is that they’ve gotten more nuanced since then.
On the other hand, as Legion from Mass Effect would say, “empirical evidence shows they have not. *robot frown*”
The original idea of “Tropes versus Women” pretty much is antithetical to the kind of analysis I want to see, and frankly, this boob plate thing shows that’s still the kind of analysis that they do

We should not venerate in our community someone who just declares tropes verboten
If the point of FemFreq wasn’t to be censorious, but she wanted to criticize The Mandalorian, where was she in the episode where they murdered a badass Asian female bounty hunter for no good reason? Or commenting on the real-world racial politics of the Empire? Or Rosario Dawson?
Why is “boob plate” the “this far, no further” for FemFreq? Ockham’s Razor says “because she’s at best a 1980s academic feminist”
