I am (just as in March/April/May) looking after an All-Covid "hot" ward these past 3 weeks and with maybe half having respiratory-dominant pattern. Knowing that *everyone* has tested positive fairly recently does weirdly make the whole PPE/infection control thing simpler..
but seeing so many people (as we did last time) who either take days/weeks to wean off oxygen and desaturate whenever we try or...spend several days *not* needing Oxygen and then start to run into difficulties (not PEs or 2y bacterial pneumonia just covid pneumonitis worsening)
it does make me wonder about readmissions within 7 and 14 and 28 days though. Maybe a lot of them were sent home understandably and rightly cos stable but then got more hypoxic at home
it is great to see teams like @ticc_19 at my own trust or others in South Manc, East Lancs, Herts doing virtual ward/hospital at home monitoring and using pulsoximetry and getting people back in sooner for review if needs be. Also care home support teams for monitoring/02
