Advocate Reepak Kansal addresses a letter to the #SupremeCourt Secretary General, says Registry is engaging in discrimination & irregularities.
Kansal says that #ArnabGoswami’s case was given “special treatment” in matter of listing due to his “influential lawyer”.
Kansal says that Arnab’s case was listed in the #SupremeCourt even though defects persisted and that there was an unsigned vakaltnama at the time of filing.
Registry has provided special route to Arnab Goswami by ignoring Supreme Court Rules, 2013. Quick listing is not for other journalists/ ordinary citizens of this country. No “ordinary lawyer” is permitted to approach this Hon'ble Court without a signed Vakalatnama, he says.
#ArnabGoswami was in jail when petition was filed before #SupremeCourt & during curing of defects. It is a matter of enquiry whether said Vakalatnama was attested by jail authority & if not, under which provision exemption was given to Goswami? - Kansal to SC Secretary General
Kansal urges the Secretary General to issue directions to the Registry for putting a stop to the "pick and choose policy" while cases. The lawyer also seeks initiation of enquiry into the "quick listing" of Goswami's case and take appropriate action against the erring officers.
Kansal has further demanded that appropriate steps should be taken against Goswami's arguing counsel, Mr. Harish Salve and the Advocate on Record responsible.
