How has user involvement been defined? At earliest stage, this involves advising on a study conducted by researchers. Co-production involves users in design & implementation. Highest level involves users leading design and implementation. Involvement in planning is quite rare.
User involvement impact: has potential in identifying relevant research topics, planning study design and ensuring research ethics. Enriches and deepens analysis and supports integration into research and health care practice. Yet may not be taken so seriously at times @evbres
Successful implementation depends on value of user involvement being recognised and that adequate resources are made available. Challenges arise with inconsistent reporting and multiple roles. User involvement can be a primary focus or a strategy - Kirsti Hipp @evbres
Opportunities afforded by user involvement - increasing in a variety of study areas, but more research is needed, particularly relating to academic researcher experience & user's *authentic* engagement. Can be reported in an idealistic way even if tokenistic in practice - @evbres
