1/ YouTube shorts is really interesting.

Any vertical video below 60s would be classified as a "YouTube short" and would be shown together with other shorts on the homepage and recommended section.

Time for a thread 🧵👇
2/ Using #Shorts in the title and description helps youtube to identify short videos quicker and show them to people.
3/ There doesn't seem to be a way of grouping shorts.

e.g. Inspirational video of Jeff Bezos, Call options tutorial, guy folding macbook backwards all grouped together.
4/ I uploaded a shorts video of my macOS big sur video.

Here's how it went

Normal Video (2min23s) - 40 views in 3 days
Shorts (58s) - 46 views in 6 hours

Same content but already more views and same watch time.
5/ While shorts might not replace longer form content

It can be used to post content that is longer than a tweet/ig story but shorter than a youtube video (5-10min)

IG Stories/Tweets <---> YouTube Shorts <---> YouTube Video
6/ @AliAbdaal posted a YouTube shorts this week reviewing the Kindle Oasis.

While there was probably not enough content to talk about it for 10mins, he was able to post a 58s short explaining who should buy it compared to the kindle paper white.
In conclusion, YouTube shorts are interesting and act as a bridge between longer form and short form content.

Also it's quite new which makes it even more exciting and fun to experiment with.
