Like many of us, I am disturbed at the blatant disregard for medical knowledge & recommendations during this global pandemic, or “plandemic” as some prefer

I have some thoughts about the dangerous way many people are choosing to assert their right to freedom /1
I would like to start by imploring people to remember that the healthcare workers begging you to take precautions are the same ones you trust and rely on when you or your loved ones are sick

If you have ever gone to a clinic or the hospital, please remember who treated you /2
Who did you put your trust in during your vulnerable moment?

Now let’s take that a step further. A scenario that happens not infrequently: let’s say when someone presented to the hospital they were recommended treatment that is based upon scientific evidence /3
However, their google search or friend’s opinions have led them to refuse or request a different treatment

At this point, my approach is this: I cannot force treatment onto a person if I feel they have the capacity to decide for themselves /4
I do, however, try to present them with the best information to make the best choice for them. My goal is to avoid any preventable harm

I encourage recommended treatment that will help, I discourage any intervention I know or believe will cause harm /5
But, ultimately, the choice is in the hands of the patient. This is not always easy and I, as many of us do, bring home the emotional baggage that comes with these conversations

Public health measures of COVID are a very different can of worms /6
It has now become commonplace to not only completely disregard the knowledge and recommendations of doctors and HCWs but to also assume dishonesty and ulterior motives

These are the very people you go to when you are sick, when you need help - the very same people /7
Recommendations put forth by the experts to wear a mask, wash your hands, and keep your distance are being disregarded

To refuse to follow any of these measures and to loudly promote this pandemic as a hoax, is dangerous and irresponsible /8
Back to my example of hearing your treatment option & choosing not to take it

That is essentially equivalent to choosing not to wear your seatbelt and taking that personal risk in order to align your actions with your beliefs - for whatever reason (“freedom” maybe) /9
I wish it wasn’t the case, but I can understand and even support someone’s right to do so

Conversely, refusing to follow the guidelines set forth to reduce transmission of COVID is equivalent to undoing the seatbelts of those around you! /10
You are not just risking your own health (which is your right), you are risking the health of all the more vulnerable people around you (which is absolutely not your right)

Our healthcare system is getting overwhelmed & our (lack of) leadership is failing us /11
Politicians are playing a dangerous game

I promise you HCWs have no ulterior motives and are desperately just trying to keep numbers down to protect their patients, their families and themselves /12
