One way to protect yourself from mis/disinformation in this fandom is to try to imagine yourself as an anti. If you want to attack a fandom and sabotage a comeback, what would you do? With what I know from mis/disinformation research, these are some of the things I would do:

1) Attack pillar accounts of the fandom to demoralize the fans, 2) Pit them against another fandom and let them fight each other, 3) Start a discussion about fairness among the members to provoke the fans, 4) Start attacking the company and erode people’s trust. +

5) Start a rumor about a member based on nothing to distract people, 6) Hire someone to write an article discrediting or criticizing the artist....and many more.

Now think about when we see these things happening…

And oh yes, I would never pose myself as an external threat. Fighting an external threat would only unite the fandom more. I would make sure to infiltrate and pretend that I am one of them. The fight is much harder when you can't see your enemy.
