10:30 AM Yerevan time Pashinyan to conduct live interview with 12 journalists. That’s in roughly 50 minutes https://twitter.com/panarmeniannet/status/1328205510290575360
Pashinyan answering Q about his yesterday's post: Says his words were manipulated in the context of today's heated political atmosphere in the country. Interpreting his sentences in the post saying that no call for violence was intended or meant. Admits harsh wording
But to me, this is a bad faith explanation rather than an admission of being wrong. Going on tangents and putting the onus on people who have perceived his words as a call for violence.
He is trying to put his words in the larger context of violent words being said in his direction by the opposition and in the context of the violence against the NA building and the Government building. Says that his words were taken therefore out of context.
Honestly, this is a really bad effort at saving face. Unconvincing
Talking about the war and the way it unraveled and whose fault it is. Admits responsibility but not saying anything new. He says his policy with re Artsakh was to change the logic of the negotiations and that Armenia failed. The logic was territories for nothing in return
Nothing new. No bombshells thus far. He just explains his approach to negotiations. He resisted the idea of returning the 7 territories for nothing. War was the result of his resistance. War was THE resistance. War then stopped because Armenia ran out of options on the ground
Several hundred Armenian soldiers MIA. Some may be in captivity. Working with relevant organizations to ascertain their fate and those in captivity will be repatriated.
Refutes the notion that Shushi fell as a result of betrayal. Subversive groups were able to penetrate the city’s defenses and armenian counteroffensives failed to return the city resulting in over 150 KIA
Well this is something. I may be understanding wrong, but Says that since the get go there was a demand to give up Shushi but we defended Shushi as much as we could and as much as we theoretically could. This will definitely confirm some notions floated around that Pashinyan
Had the chance to stop the war earlier with less loss of human life. This is actually one of the most important points in the interview. There have been rumors that Pashinyan was offered several options to call it quits during the war but he had refused them all.
This seems to confirm some of these rumors.
Going back to his facebook post and says that he is against violence and calls on the opposition to renounce violence and hate speech directed at him and his government
Now he says that that there were no concrete proposals or documents earlier in the war which would mean less loss of life and territories. So the rumors i referenced above are just rumors and NOT true per Pashinyan.
Now says that the logic of the negotiations were killed in July 2020. In july we showed that we are ready to fight for our interests unfortunately Turkey with the help of mercenaries created these new facts.
Q re status of Karabakh army after Russian peacekeepers on the ground. He says that Artsakh army isn’t going anywhere and it will remain as is. It will need to grow and develop and become the sole guarantor of the people of Artsakh’s security
The end
