Higher education is the biggest waste of time, energy and money since the Pyramids. Huge swafts of our youth are semi-conscripted into wasting the best years of their lives.

But at least the Pyramids looked nice.

Our colleges can only churn out blue-haired tattooed monsters.

Actually, I will comment. When laughing at screengrabs and feeling happy schadenfreude over someone who did an English Lit major and is now complaining about the debt, we would do well to remember the Last Psychiatrist's essay on hipsters on food stamps.

When we see laugh at twitter pseuds whinging about college fees the humour stems from our assumption that they can easily work but choose not to do so. But that's not true. The fact is his education really did make him useless and that he no longer can contribute to the economy.

As LastPsych says, guys like this can't do anything science related, they can't do manual labour, and they can't even do retail or sales "unless detached irony is required". All they genuinely can do is low-paid unstable gig work, write shit books & online snark. That's tragic.

They were tricked and the only ego-saving rationalisation they can salvage from that is to pretend to be better than those materialistic normies in the rat race. We find it hard to believe that college is THAT bad, otherwise it wouldn't be allowed, but it is!

Long story short: we find it hard to accept that society's checks and balances would allow something as monstrous and as rapacious as the higher education industry to enter existence, but it did! Accepting this is hard because we always hope there is a higher moral authority.

So perhaps I am wrong to loath and laugh at the blue-haired monsters being churned out by orcademia. They are but both the victims and end-product of the system like bespectacled, pierced, soy-consuming versions of HG Wells' Morlocks from The Time Machine.

(Quite like the Morlock analogy, though of course our effete products of the higher education system are closer to the Eloi in their appearance. Eloi on the outside, Morlock on the inside. The Eloi-Morlock: the spoilt degenerate last generation of PissEarth 2020.)
