What a week for us Scotland fans! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

While we move on from today & prepare for Israel on Wednesday, let’s again bask in our Euro 2020 glory & honour the men who took us there.

6 games. 600 minutes. 31 players.

Listed in order of minutes on the pitch.

🧵
1. Andrew Robertson. 600 mins.

The only player on the field for every minute of all six of our Euro2020 Nations League games.

Clearly we are lucky to have a man of his talent, but even more so that he is so totally committed to his country.

Captain. Leader. Living legend.
2. Callum McGregor. 589 mins.

The only other player to start every game, only off the pitch when subbed with 11 mins to go in our opener v Albania.

An important player for us at that point. Absolutely crucial now.

And boy, can he take a penalty too.

Terrific footballer.
3. Stephen O’Donnell. 413 minutes.

Played the first two, missed the middle two, played the last two.

Must have been shocking at penalties in training as taken off with 7 mins to go then 3 mins to go in semi final and final!

Growing with each game. Deserves great praise.
4. John McGinn. 383 minutes.

Captain in Robbo’s absence which says everything.

Another who played in the first two (Albania home, Israel away) and the last two, the big two.

The first Scotland men’s player to score in a penalty shootout. Just!

A force of nature. Outstanding.
5. Allan McGregor. 360 mins.

Yep, this will surprise people.

Had the gloves at the start of the campaign and played every minute of the group games.

Two clean sheets in four games plus that crucial save late in the 3-2 win over Israel.

Founding member of the squad’s success.
6. Kieran Tierney. 300 mins.

But they can’t play together ... 😴

A campaign starter and finisher. Recovered from scoring an own goal to gift Israel a 2-1 win to lead the party in Serbia, on and off the pitch.

Going by today’s performance even bigger things are to come.

DJ.
7. Scott McTominay. 283 mins.

In the first four games he played 11. 0, 29 & 3 mins.

In the last two he played 240 mins out of position. And scored penalties in both shootouts.

Only time he didn’t appear was in the game we lost. There’s a lesson there.

Critical to new system.
8. Ryan Christie. 253 mins.

We all knew he could play but these last two games, bloody hell!

That goal.

That interview.

That version of Sweet Caroline.

There will be a good few Scotland tops with Christie on the back next summer.

Icon.
9. Callum Paterson. 242 mins.

I know all players will play anywhere but this guy does play anywhere.

Right back? Nae bother.

Up front? Nae bother.

Remake of Trainspotting? Nae bother.

Tache.
10=. Davie Marshall. 240 mins.

We’ll all remember where we were and who we were with when time froze and Marsh asked the ref “is it ok?”

The two penalty stops will live forever but what about that extra time save in Serbia? Incredible.

Loved by all - especially Whigfield.
10=. Declan Gallagher. 240 mins

His impact just can't be understated.

Has brought balance to a system & to a squad seemingly full of left footers, combining superbly with all defensive partners.

Makes it look like he's been playing international football for years.

Faultless.
11. Scott McKenna. 225 mins.

Played two and half group games.

Competing with the 74 million other left sided defensive options we have.

Clearly highly rated by the manager.

Just needs to add one of those 40-yarders to his game.

More caps will follow.
12=. James Forrest. 203 minutes.

One of the most influential players in the campaign.

Five goals in two games as we ran riot in Albania then overcame Israel thanks to his treble.

Scotland players scored 10 goals*, he scored half of them.

Flying machine when fit.

(*Plus 1 OG)
12=. Ryan Jack. 203 mins.

Didn’t feature in any of the group games but by the time of the two knockout ties the Ryan-McGregor partnership was tried and trusted and looks here to stay.

A disciplined performer in Serbia when we had to dig in.

In his prime.
13. Ryan Fraser. 200 mins.

This is when it gets confusing. Big breakthrough artist recently in a Nations League World Cup group contest.

Euros campaign highlights were a goal and three assists in the two games Forrest thrived in.

It’s one not both now surely?

Rapid.
14. Stuart Armstrong. 182 mins.

Undisputed best hair in the squad.

Played only the three games we won in 90 minutes ...

Needs to keep up club form to strengthen pitch for starting place.

Lots to offer.
15. David Bates. 180 mins.

It’s amazing how quickly things change in football.

Two years ago Bates helped solve a defensive crisis and featured at the heart of the back four in Albania and then that edgy 3-2 over our old friends Israel.

Barely mentioned in 2020.

Hamburger.
16. Lyndon Dykes. 174 minutes.

Revelation. Focal point. So important already. Enormous international potential.

17. Steven Naismith. 166 mins.

Set us on our way. Big contribution.

18. Steven Fletcher. 155 mins.

Divine intervention. Huge reason we won six priceless points.
19. Johnny Russell. 154 mins.

Early supporter. Quarantined.

20. John Souttar. 151 mins.

Sent in. Sent off.

21=. Kevin McDonald. 135 mins.

In our midfield before it was cool.

21=. Charlie Mulgrew. 135 mins.

Ambassador for successful set pieces.
22. Oli McBurnie. 124 mins.

It’s coming. Get behind him. And remember his penalty.

23. Liam Cooper. 120 mins.

Semi sonic.

24. Lawrence Shankland. 47 mins.

Another spot on contribution.
25. Kenny McLean. 44 mins.

Yes, 44 mins.

This guy deserves a tweet of his own.

Seven minutes in the Israel semi, 37 in Serbia.

That’s not a lot of game time to prepare for two colossal penalty kicks.

Just a sensational human being.

Last man standing.
26. Matt Phillips. 36 mins.

Two sub appearances in two wins. Hiya.

27. Leigh Griffiths. 23 mins.

He started and he finished. From 12 yards.

28. Graeme Shinnie. 14 mins.

Brief encounter. The end.

(There may be mistakes in this. Calculated & written while still euphoric!)
