My thoughts on #GirlfriendsOnNetflix:
Joan is exhausting. Wishy-washy. Flippity-floppity. The sole source of her own unhappiness.
Toni >
Sis was not a great person, but she knew that and she let everyone in her life know that. She saw herself—something the other characters lacked.

Joan is exhausting.
Todd was stupid for expecting Toni to change after they got married. He knew who she was, pretended to be okay with it when he wasn’t, then flipped on her.
Joan is fucking exhausting. I saw someone else on here mention how it was stupid for Joan to open a restaurant instead of starting a wedding/party planning company, and I agree. But then when her restaurant fails, and William comes up with a way to make money...
Joan wants to be a broke snob and fight the idea. Like...sis, do you want to be broke or not? Exhausting.
Keep seeing Penta water all up and through this show. I knew one other person who drank Penta water back then— his parents were well-off, so I associated that brand of water with rich people. Lol.
I can’t believe Maya went and a made a full and happy life for herself, by her damn self, just to get back with the same man from before who ain’t wanna let her live. And oh look...there goes the third book, like clockwork.
All Lynn’s songs sound the same. And by “the same,” I mean not good.
Update: they sound a lil better in this final season.
William has consistently given horrible advice.
The show suffered a little without Toni but just getting abruptly cut off without tying up loose ends has a v v ugly energy.
And knowing Toni was supposed to come back at the end...I...
Ultimately, these women placed far too much stock in men and were literally all better off without men. The men dragged them down. But, also, Joan was exhausting and annoying and self-destructive all by herself. Soooo.
Would like a movie to tie up loose ends, pls. Maybe in the style of Noah’s Arc (the first reunion w/ the wedding—cause we know Joan gotta get married and be extra bridezilla til the last 45 seconds).
Toni > Maya > Lynn > the clap > Joan
Had been composing this thread the entire time I rewatched but then somehow forgot about once I finished the show—three weeks ago.
